Job summary

Kautex in Detroit, MI is seeking a 2nd Shift Supervisor Technology to lead blow molding, injection molding, and related processes. You will ensure machine performance, drive safety, and promote continuous improvement across the production lines.

You will coach process technicians and leaders, manage changeovers, and ensure documentation accuracy. A engineering degree and 3+ years in molding or assembly equipment are preferred. This role requires flexibility for night/weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• University degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
• 3 years of experience in Blow Molding, Hot Plate Welding, Assembly Equipment or related fields.
• Experience with electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems and programming logic.
• Robotics experience preferred (FANUC).
• Proven mechanical skills and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience leading, coaching, and mentoring direct reports preferred.
• Support a 24/7 environment with flexible shifts including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Oversee blow molding, injection molding, and hot-plate welding processes to maintain efficient operations.
• Monitor machine operation to meet cycle times, shot weights, and injection parameters.
• Complete parameter logs, machine logs, work orders, and quality checks across production lines.
• Identify waste minimization and material recycling opportunities.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives and countermeasures.
• Provide leadership to process technicians, production associates, and area leaders for tooling changes.
• Lead training programs for process technicians, team members, and leadership.
• Understand electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic circuits for tooling.

What awaits you:

• Oversee blow molding, injection molding, and hot-plate welding processes to maintain efficient, productive operations

• Monitor and ensure proper machine operation across all molding platforms to achieve manufacturing targets (cycle times, shot weights, and injection parameters).

• Monitor and ensure thorough completion of documentation across all production lines (parameter logs, machine logs, work order entries, process quality checks, and process change management).

• Identify waste minimization and material recycling opportunities for both blow and injection processes to establish cost reduction opportunities.

• Lead the completion of continuous improvement initiatives and countermeasures.

• Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to process technicians, production associates, and area leaders to identify and perform blow mold, injection mold, head tooling, and welder changes.

• Lead comprehensive blow molding and injection molding training programs for process technicians, team members, and leadership.

• Understand electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic circuits for both blow molding and injection molding process tooling.

Qualifications

What you’ll need to succeed:

• University degree in Engineering or related degree preferred

• 3 years of experience in Blow Molding, Hot Plate Welding, Assembly Equipment or other related experience required

• Experience in Electrical, Pneumatic, Hydraulic systems, and programming logic

• Robotics experience preferred (FANUC)

• Proven mechanical skills

• Prior experience leading, coaching, and mentoring direct reports preferred

• Support a 24/7 environment as shifts may change due to business needs. Full shift flexibility including holidays, nights and weekends is needed
