Summary:
A Sr. Laser Operator is an experience professional responsible for setting up, operating, and maintain CNC laser machines.
Responsibilities:
- Use of proper personal protective equipment.
- Complex set-up and operation of CNC Laser machine.
- Material selection based on paperwork requirements; material type, size, thickness, and grade.
- Program and edit machine code to optimize production
- Loads material into the machine manually and/or an electric hoist.
- Sets up machine for optimal cut and efficiency with respect to material type, thickness, and grade.
- Ensure parts are cut according to production order or other type of documentation.
- Transfers material to and from raw material inventory in a regular basis.
- Marks all parts and/or material drop offs with heat numbers for traceability purposes.
- Operates machine with caution to prevent damages.
- Perform diagnostic tests and resolve complex machine issues, coordinating with maintenance personnel or escalating to supervisor as needed
- Perform maintenance routines.
- Inspects or measures work, using rule, gauges, and templates.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose cut quality issues, adjusting laser settings, and parameters to maintain quality standards.
- Keeps workplace safe and free of dangerous obstacles.
- Maintains daily time records
- Reads and interprets blueprints, engineering specifications, and shop orders to determine machine setup, production methods, and sequence of operation
- Other job duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School or GED Diploma.
- 5+ years of experience in CNC laser machine operation preferred
- Ability to read, write, and general comprehension
- Ability to use measuring equipment, read blueprints and schematics.
- Previous laser operation experience preferred.
- Vocational training in lieu of experience would be considered.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Experience with CNC Programming and/or Sheet metal operations is a plus.
- Mechanical or manufacturing process general knowledge is preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This position will work in a manufacturing setting with exposure to heavy equipment, machinery, and related noise levels. Position will be primarily working in a standing position for up to (6) plus hours per day. Some duties will require sitting for short periods of time. Must be capable of lifting 0-50lbs. in the proper ergonomic position.
Additional Benefit:
This position will receive a 5% shift differential on top of the offered base rate for working on 2nd Shift.
