A local small Zeeland company, a screw machine manufacturer producing parts for the automotive industry, maintains high standards to ensure consistent and reliable parts for its customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Operates one or more multiple spindle screw machines with automatic indexing and feeding mechanisms to machine metal bar stock. Responsibilities include learning to run these machines, performing basic tool changes, and inspecting parts for specifications. Machines are complex and require some machine knowledge. Pay may increase based on knowledge level. Training could take up to two-three months, depending on the individual.

Duties:

  1. Reads blueprints or job orders for product specifications, dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions.
  2. Positions and secures components and loads bar stock into feeding mechanisms.
  3. Installs and adjusts cams, gears, and stops to control stock and tool movements.
  4. Positions and secures tools in holders.
  5. Sets cutting speeds and feed rates.
  6. Operates controls to cycle the machine, adjusts tools, and ensures proper operation.
  7. Starts the machine, observes operation, and inspects first run and sample parts for conformity.
  8. Replaces worn tools and operates a bench grinder to sharpen tools.

Starting pay is $18/hr DOE.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED, or 1-3 months related experience/training, or equivalent.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, with American measurement units.
  • Fluent in English, able to read and speak.
  • Physical ability to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; regularly lift/move up to 35 pounds.
  • Good vision including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
  • Basic machine knowledge, ability to work independently, cross-train, and be self-motivated.
  • Pass a drug screen and background check.

Training on 1st shift (7:00 am - 3:15 pm) for at least one month before moving to 2nd shift (3:00 pm - 11:15 pm).
