Job summary

HES Facilities Management is seeking a school custodian in Salem, VA to maintain cleanliness, safety, and functionality of educational facilities. Responsibilities include supporting classroom setup and routine maintenance to ensure a smooth school day.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work on a 2nd shift, and follow safety protocols. The position may involve summers and flexible school-hour scheduling.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and comprehend at duties level
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with a diverse group of people
• Criminal background check required

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and wax floors.
• Machine shampoo carpeting.
• Clean walls, vents, furniture, fixtures, and windows.
• Wash interior and exterior windows and glass doors.
• Empty trash, empty exterior cigarette urns, outside entrances.
• Clean restrooms and replenish supplies.
• Change light bulbs reachable from a ladder.
• Complete work requests for repairs.
• Remove snow and ice and apply salt.
• Organize custodial closets as needed.
• Move and set up furniture for special events.
• Perform additional duties as directed by supervisor.
