Job summary

New Albany-Floyd County Consolidated School District HAZELWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL in New Albany, Indiana is seeking a Custodian for the 2nd shift to perform cleaning duties and basic maintenance. This hourly, non-exempt role reports to the Custodial and Staffing Manager and Building Principal and requires experience in custodial services.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience or equivalent in custodial services.
• Knowledge and experience in custodial services.
• Exceptional oral communication skills (listening, questioning, clarifying and responsiveness).
• Ability to read and interpret written information.
• Ability to work in a team and build professional relationships.
• General computer knowledge (email, word processing, work order software).

Responsibilities

• Cleans and maintains assigned routes, buildings and grounds.
• Cleans, maintains and ensures safety of buildings, sidewalks, driveways and parking lots.
• Performs minor maintenance such as painting and plumbing as needed.
• Complies with safety regulations for equipment and chemical handling.
• Maintains knowledge of fire and security alarm systems.
• Sets up for events and moves furniture as directed.
• Performs general cleaning tasks: buffing, dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and window washing.
