Job summary

Misfits Market in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Sanitation Associate to support daily operations in the Sanitation Department, ensuring the facility is clean and sanitary for the safety of the team and customers.

You will work in a refrigerated environment, adhere to GMPs/HACCP/OSHA, and help maintain safe storage and inventory while supporting operations as needed.

Qualifications

  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Experience in a food distribution, manufacturing, or warehouse environment.
  • Comfortable working in a refrigerated environment (36 degrees).
  • Ability to work independently and complete assignments within given instructions and routines.
  • Capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with company policies and food safety rules (GMPs, HACCP, OSHA).
  • Perform sanitation- and hygiene-related duties as assigned by Maintenance Tech.
  • Monitor chemical dilution of detergents and food contact sanitizers.
  • Address hazards in the FC and escalate sanitation issues to Maintenance Tech.
  • Prepare and log donations for donation partners.
  • Assist with logging and disposing of damaged items.
  • Maintain a safe, clean warehouse and proper storage of products.
  • Monitor sanitation inventory levels and coordinate reorders with Maintenance Tech.
  • May use computers or tablets for record-keeping and training.
  • Support Operations with various duties as needed.

The Sanitation associate will assist with the day-to-day operations within the Sanitation Department. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that all parts of the facility are cleaned and in sanitary condition for the safety of our team and our customers.

  • Saturday 8 am-4:30 pm
  • Sunday 5 pm- 1:30 am
  • Monday 5 pm-1:30 am
  • Tuesday 5 pm-1:30 am

What you will do:

  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedure,s including food safety rules, safe handling of materials, and following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
  • Perform sanitation- and hygiene-related duties as assigned by Maintenance Tech using approved cleaning procedures and practices.
  • Monitor chemical dilution of detergents and food contact sanitizers..
  • Proactively assess and address hazards in the FC such as puddles, unclean food surfaces, and waste build-up. Escalate any sanitation issues to the Maintenance Tech.
  • Prepare and log donations for our donation partners.
  • Assist with logging and appropriately disposing of damaged items.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized warehouse environment, including proper storage of products and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Monitor and maintain sanitation inventory levels, partnering with the Maintenance Tech for reorders.
  • May use computers or tablets for record-keeping, communication, and training.
  • Support Operations with different duties as needed.

Who you are:

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk, bend, squat, climb, reach, and kneel
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds
  • Sedentary work; involves sitting some of the time
  • Standing desks and/or other ergonomic accommodation is available upon request
  • Occasional movement around the office may be necessary
  • Regular work with computers, including keyboards, mouses, and screens
  • Regular use of mobile devices, including smartphones and tablets
  • Able to work in cold temperatures in a refrigerated environment
