Job summary

Wayne Farms LLC in Tennessee seeks an experienced ammonia refrigeration technician to maintain and repair plant refrigeration systems. You will follow blueprints, perform preventive maintenance, test system performance and troubleshoot complex equipment issues.

The role requires NOCTI HVAC/Refrigeration Level 1–2 certifications with Level 3, and at least 3 years of hands-on experience, strong electrical/mechanical knowledge, and ability to work nights, weekends, and long shifts.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • NOCTI HVAC/Refrigeration Level 1 and 2 certified; Level 3 certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and repair ammonia refrigeration equipment in the plant.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance per schedules.
  • Read and follow blueprints and diagrams for diagnostic work.
  • Identify root causes and implement repairs; document system readings.

SHIFT HOURS:2nd Shift: 5:55 pm-6:30 amJOB INCENTIVES:Pay starting at $33.95/hrBenefits available on Day 1On-the-job trainingPRIMARY FUNCTION:Primarily responsible for maintaining, operating, inspecting, and repairing various types of ammonia refrigeration equipment for a poultry processing plant. Performs preventative and predictive maintenance; periodically tests and inspects to verify equipment is operating within manufacturer’s specifications and tolerances; troubleshoots equipment problems and repairs as needed. Performs all work in compliance with company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:Under minimal supervision, manage the operations of the ammonia refrigeration compressor room, following blueprints and diagrams to diagnose complex problems and repair unitsTake and record required system readings; understand the implications of variances and report to appropriate personnel/leaderIdentify root cause of complex mechanical issues with systems and repairs; notifies appropriate personnelPerform predictive and preventative maintenance on compressors when needed and/or scheduledIdentify unsafe conditions; correct or report to appropriate personnel if unable to correct on ownMaintain a file of blueprints, operating manuals and procedures as neededAssist in training entry level personnelWorks in compliance with all company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulationsAll other duties as assignedEDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:High School Diploma or equivalentNOCTI HVAC/Refrigeration test Level 1 and 2 certifiedPass NOCTI HVAC/Refrigeration test, Level 3 requiredEXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:Minimum 3 years’ experience in running, maintaining and repairing ammonia refrigeration equipmentIntermediate math and computer skillsExpert knowledge and understanding of all functions and components of ammonia refrigeration equipmentThorough knowledge of relevant electrical and general mechanical systemsAbility to work unsupervised and self-motivateAbility to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shift hoursSound work ethic, honesty and moral characterSAFETY REQUIREMENTS:Follow departmental and company safety policies and programsMust wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times in areas where required.)PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Stand up to 8 hoursLift up to 60 lbsMay be exposed to heat (99ºF, 37ºC) and cold (45ºF, 4ºC)Exposure to wet and dusty environmentFrequently reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling and crawlingRoll and push buggies (~1,000 lbs.)Work around raw, live animal odorsWe are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
