Job summary

CandyCo is seeking a Quality Technician to lead quality efforts on the production floor, ensure GMP compliance, and support continuous improvement in confectionery manufacturing.

You will oversee inspections, testing, and adherence to procedures, while coordinating with the quality team to resolve issues and drive product quality throughout the plant.

Qualifications

  • Previous manufacturing experience, preferably confectionary production.
  • Strong work ethics particularly in attendance, punctuality, safety, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively; clearly and professionally.
  • Previous Quality experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Follow plant GMP and safety guidelines.
  • Oversee inspection, physical tests, and procedures on the production floor.
  • Enforce good manufacturing practices and systems with employees on the warehouse floor.
  • Achieve quality by contributing information and implementing improvements; resolve problems and enforce procedures.
  • Gather and investigate data for procedures; inspect finished goods for defects.
  • Oversee the rework process by inspection and test methods.
  • Pull incoming raw samples for testing; verify incoming/outgoing product and paperwork.
  • Notify Quality Manager of discrepancies during receiving.
  • Assist the Quality Manager for customer complaint investigations.
  • Complete weekly verifications and assist in GMP Audit and 5S actions.

Job purpose

The Quality Technician provides quality leadership by providing quality support to manufacturing in the areas of: quality and process control, product quality, procedural and systems audits.



Duties and responsibilities


  • Responsible to follow plant GMP and safety guidelines.



  • Assures consistent quality and oversees inspection, physical tests, and procedures on the production floor.

  • Enforces good manufacturing practices and systems with employees working on the warehouse floor.

  • Achieves quality by contributing information and preparing and completing action plans; identifying and resolving problems; determining system improvements; implementing change, enforcing policies and procedures.



  • Focuses on gathering and investigating data for various procedures throughout the manufacturing process; Inspection of finished goods to find defects, check weights, etc.



  • Oversees the rework process by inspection and physical test methods and procedures.



  • Pulling incoming raw samples for testing, inspect and verify all incoming and outgoing product and paperwork to ensure that products comply with quality standards.

  • Manages supplier quality conformance including:

    • Documentation, specifications, and incoming COA’s.



  • Notifies Quality Manager of any discrepancies during receiving process.



  • Assist the Quality Manager for customer complaint investigation.

  • Complete weekly verifications for the following items

    • Assist in GMP Audit, Glass and Brittle Plastic Audit, 5S Corrective Actions.

Working conditions


  • Must be able to work any and all shifts as directed.

  • Must be able to work overtime as necessary, including holidays and weekends.

  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.

  • Must be an avid Safety Champion and adhere to all safety programs and procedures.



Physical requirements


  • Must wear non-slip, safety-resistant work shoes.

  • Participation in mandatory pre-shift stretches and exercises.

  • Proper use of required PPE, including hairnets, beard nets (if needed), and safety gloves.

  • Must wear all required PPE when working with equipment or chemicals that require personal protection.

  • Physical ability to: stand, sit at a desk, walk around the facility, lift/carry up to 50 lbs unassisted, reach, kneel, crawl, and twist.

  • Must possess the ability to see, hear, and communicate with associates and others using professional etiquette.
