Job summary

PowerSecure, a Southern Company subsidiary, is seeking a 2nd Shift Production Supervisor in Randleman, NC to lead production activities and manage a team of cell/Team Leads.

You will ensure safety, quality, cost control and on-time delivery, promote continuous improvement, and work with MoMs/MAIs while coordinating with engineering to minimize delays. On-site, five days a week.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience, preferably in power generation equipment or metal fabrication.
  • 1+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience with ERP systems (IFS or SAP preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and scheduling software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; Lean manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or IFS.

Responsibilities

  • Direct supervision of manufacturing cells or part of production; manage costs, safety, quality and schedule.
  • Review shop orders for accuracy and estimated labor hours; flag errors before assembly.
  • Ensure material kits and quality checks prior to assembly; drive on-time performance.
  • Coordinate with Supervisors and Production Managers to meet shipment dates without compromising quality.
  • Review PTO requests against production goals and deadlines.
  • Ensure ERP data (IFS) aligns with physical work and timing.
  • Compile reports on on-time performance, material status, labor utilization and quality.
  • Monitor attendance clocks and resolve discrepancies.
  • Create corrective actions within the team; support 5S and lean initiatives.

Description

Job Summary:

Leads production activities in specific areas that ensures safety, quality, cost, and on time delivery goals are met. Manages a group of Cell/Team Leads and assembly team members, monitoring on-time and quality performance and promoting operational discipline. Ensures Methods of Manufacture (MoM’s) and Manufacturing Assembly Instructions (MAI’s) are followed. Identifies cost savings opportunities and works as a member of the production leadership team to implement Continuous Improvement efforts.

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills):
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the assembly of power generation equipment and/or metal fabrication.
  • 1+ years of leadership and/or supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated competency with an ERP system utilized in a manufacturing environment (IFS or SAP preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation - such as schematics, assembly drawings, opera rational manuals, safety rules, and standardized work instructions.
  • Ability to compile data and reports for communicating performance versus goals (on-time, quality levels, etc.).
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and scheduling software.
  • Efficiently communicate on-time, quality safety, and improvement initiatives to cell leaders.
  • Understand production process and how they relate to production schedules and due dates.
  • Monitor labor hour allotment to jobs and track/trend performance versus goals.
  • Interface with engineering to ensure design questions or clarifications are answered quickly and clearly to minimize production delays.
  • Effective Problem Solving. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experienced with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or IFS.
  • Experience in manufacturing metal fabrication and/or electrical power generation equipment is highly preferred.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Direct supervision of manufacturing cells or a specific portion of production. Responsible for cost, safety, quality and schedule. Direct management responsibility for both Team Leads and all Team Members in their assigned cell(s) or area.
  • Reviews upcoming shop orders for accuracy of scheduled work centers and estimated labor hours (routings). Flags errors to Planning for correction prior to the commencement of assembly.
  • Ensures material kits are available and any quality checks of kitted parts (kit validations) are done prior to the commencement of assembly. Drives efficiency by ensuring team members under their leadership have all the parts and information needed to meet production goals. Proactively flags problems that effect on-time performance and/or quality before goals are missed.
  • Works together with other Supervisors and Production Managers to ensure production capacity is efficiently scheduled and utilized to meet planned shipment dates without compromising quality.
  • Reviews PTO (paid time off) requests. Approves/Rejects based on his/her team’s production goals and deadlines.
  • Ensures transactions in ERP system (IFS) match and align with the physical work – in terms of scope and timing.
  • Compiles reports from Cell/Team Leads on on-time performance, material status, labor utilization, and quality.
  • Monitors and approves attendance clocking’s and Manufacturing clocking’s in IFS before required deadline. Resolves any discrepancies in clocking hours and/or allocations to shop orders.
  • Creates and/or distributes corrective actions (disciplinary, training, processes/procedures) within their team.
  • Inspects products manufactured within his/her teams ensuring compliance with engineering documents.
  • Helps drive and implement 5S and other lean initiatives in manufacturing.
Working Conditions:
  • This position is on-site 5 days per week.
  • Occasional travel may be required for training or meetings.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to accommodate different business needs.
