Job summary

ABB in St. Louis, MO seeks a 2nd Shift Production Supervisor to lead daily manufacturing operations on-site from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The role reports to the Manufacturing Manager - NEMA and manages a team of operators and technicians, ensuring safety, quality, and production targets are met. You will drive continuous improvement, mentor the team, and coordinate with Quality, Planning, Maintenance, Engineering, and Materials to optimize performance and costs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years experience supervising production in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of production processes, equipment operation, and maintenance.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Proficient in reading technical drawings, work instructions, and production specs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily production operations, supervise team activities, manage schedules, and provide backup supervision.
• Ensure safety, quality, and compliance with ABB policies; investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Lead, develop, and coach the production team; manage timecards and payroll coding.
• Drive operational excellence by tracking KPIs, coordinating maintenance, and partnering with Quality, Planning, Maintenance, Engineering, and Materials teams.

The 2nd Shift Production Supervisor is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations, ensuring safety compliance, maintaining production quality, and driving operational excellence. This role reports to the Production Manager and manages a team of production operators and technicians.

The work model for the role is: Onsite supporting the NEMA Motors Facility in St. Louis, Missouri. This position is on 2ND Shift which is from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Monday – Friday.

Your role and responsibilities:

• Oversee daily production operations by supervising and coordinating team activities to meet production targets, manage schedules, provide backup supervision as needed, and maintain flexibility to support business needs.
• Ensure safety, compliance, and quality standards by enforcing ABB policies and procedures, investigating incidents and near-misses, implementing corrective and preventive actions, and maintaining product quality expectations.
• Lead, develop, and manage the production team through training, coaching, performance reviews, development discussions, consistent accountability, and administrative support including timecard approval and payroll coding.
• Drive operational excellence by tracking KPIs, coordinating equipment maintenance schedules, supporting root cause investigations, identifying process improvements and cost reduction opportunities, and partnering with Quality, Planning, Maintenance, Engineering, and Materials teams.

Qualifications for the role:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• 3+ years of production supervision or team leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of production processes, equipment operation, and maintenance principles.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, continuous improvement, and root cause problem solving.
• Proficiency in reading technical drawings, work instructions, and production specifications.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with computer literacy in manufacturing systems such as MES or ERP platforms like SAP, as well as Microsoft Office.
• Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
