Job summary

Luna Innovations Incorporated is seeking a Production Manager for the 2nd shift in Chino, CA. This on-site leadership role owns production performance for the shift, supervising Team Leads and technicians to meet throughput, quality, and safety targets while remaining hands-on on the floor.

Reporting to the VP of Operations, you will participate in site leadership planning and drive continuous improvement with limited travel. Growth into broader site responsibilities is possible as needs evolve.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in operations, engineering, or business, or equivalent manufacturing leadership experience.
• 5–7 years in manufacturing supervision/management in electronics, optical, or high-mix manufacturing.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, QA techniques, and calibration/inspection systems.
• Proven experience leading through Team Leads/supervisors and lean/continuous improvement.
• Experience with NetSuite and/or Salesforce is a plus.
• Ability to work a later-hours shift (~11:00 AM–8:00 PM) consistently.

Responsibilities

• Own the 2nd shift production plan: scheduling, priorities, progress, and shift summaries.
• Supervise 2nd shift Team Leads and technicians; hire, train, and develop staff.
• Maintain workflow, drive cost reductions, and implement continuous improvement.
• Lead safety, quality, and operations goals and ensure compliance.
• Coordinate with Quality and Engineering on calibration, non-conformance, and repairs.
• Manage staffing, overtime, and cross-shift handoffs with HR and 1st shift.
• Support site leadership planning, P&L, and capacity planning for 2nd shift.
