Job summary

Peninsula Plastics is seeking a Production Team Lead for the 2nd shift at our Auburn Hills, MI facility. You will oversee a small team of 2–4 machine operators, mentor staff, and ensure safe, efficient daily production.

Responsibilities include equipment setup, troubleshooting, monitoring progress, and coordinating with supervisors to meet orders. A background in thermoforming or injection molding is required, with hands-on leadership and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in injection molding or thermoforming manufacturing.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to guide and support a small production team.
• Familiarity with manufacturing equipment, production processes, and plant tools.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot production‑related issues.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Basic computer proficiency and the ability to maintain accurate production documentation.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of approximately 2–4 machine operators during daily production operations.
• Provide hands‑on training and guidance to ensure employees follow proper operating procedures and safety standards.
• Monitor production progress, identify potential delays, and help ensure daily production targets are achieved.
• Communicate with production supervisors regarding equipment performance, production concerns, and upcoming orders.
• Assist with employee performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.
• Assist with setting up, adjusting, and fine‑tuning thermoforming machinery.
• Operate manufacturing equipment according to established procedures.
• Troubleshoot equipment and production issues to minimize downtime and maintain workflow.
• Load and unload equipment and materials as needed to support production.
• Maintain accurate equipment readings, production logs, and required documentation.
• Ensure production areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with workplace safety standards.
• Assist with developing and improving work‑cell layouts to maximize efficiency.
• Identify opportunities to improve production processes, workflow, and equipment performance.
• Support production supervisors with additional tasks to ensure successful shift operations.
