Job summary

Liberty Diversified International (Safco) in Milford, IA is seeking a 2nd Shift Production Lead to coordinate a small flex team and provide front-line leadership for manufacturing operations, including labor allocation, material flow, safety, quality, and production documentation.

The role reports to the Production Supervisor and supports metal fabrication, machine operation, and welding, with hours 3:30pm–1:30am and occasional overtime. Competitive benefits and growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• The role requires a high school diploma or GED plus 3+ years manufacturing experience or equivalent.
• Experience reading, writing, and completing detailed work instructions.
• Ability to understand basic mechanical and manufacturing techniques.
• Proficient with typing, printing, and data entry.
• Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Lead, instruct, train, and coordinate with production team on assigned shift.
• Assist Supervisor with day-to-day production issues including staffing and material flow.
• Provide technical support and problem-solving for shift employees.
• Maintain and update production metrics for Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Morale.
• Run and review reports to prioritize production activities.

The 2nd Shift Production Lead is responsible for providing front-line coordination and technical and process leadership for a small flex team of production employees. This role supports daily manufacturing operations by coordinating labor allocation, material flow and availability, safety initiatives, quality standards, and production documentation, while actively participating in production activities as needed. The Production Lead works closely with cross-functional partners to ensure efficient and effective operations.

This full-time position reports to the Production Supervisor and offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in launching Safco's new 2ndShift operation. As a member of the off-shift leadership team, you will help establish and support manufacturing processes across areas including metal fabrication, machine operation, and welding, while fostering a safe, productive, and engaged work environment.

2nd Shift Hours: Monday – Thursday 3:30pm – 1:30am. Overtime may be required on Fridays based on business needs .

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible to lead, instruct, train, and coordinate with production team members on assigned shift.
• Assist the Supervisor to address day-to-day production issues, including staffing needs, material availability & flow, and equipment status.
• Provides technical support and assists with problem solving for employees on their designated shift.
• Maintain and update production metrics for department goals including Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Morale.
• Runs and reviews reports including due date and inventory reports to ensure proper prioritization of production activities.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities.
• Other duties, as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION , EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• High School diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution AND 3+ years manufacturing experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Previous experience reading, writing, and completing detailed work instructions.
• Ability to understand basic mechanical and manufacturing techniques.
• Previous experience with computer skills such as typing, printing and data entry.
• Ability to use math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• Excellent communication skills and a high degree of responsiveness and empathy for internal and external customers.
• 2+ years of previous team or process lead experience.
• Prior work experience with JDE/Oracle in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The starting pay rate for this position is $25.00 per hour plus hourly shift differential pay. The compensation posted is the anticipated pay for the position at the time of the posting. We may pay above or below posted amount based on several factors, including, but not limited to education and/or certifications, skills, experience, or work location. Some positions may qualify for additional compensation in the form of bonuses.
