Job summary

Graphic Packaging International in Newton, IA is seeking a Press Assistant to support the Printing Manager by driving KPI improvements and operating the press line. You will set up feeder and coating units, ensure board quality, manage consumables, and communicate across shifts.

The role requires mechanical aptitude, problem-solving in quality control, and readiness to work additional shifts. Competitive benefits are provided by the company.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and follow written instructions.
• Mechanical aptitude and press mechanics knowledge.
• Understanding of troubleshooting and quality-control procedures.
• Strong computer skills and SAP familiarity.
• Willingness to work overtime and multiple shifts.
• Prior folding carton experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain feeder, print units, and coating unit.
• Ensure board quality and availability.
• Maintain proper level of consumables and report into SAP.
• Communicate with shifts and assist the press operator.
• Serve as backup operator during breaks and keep the press running.
• Complete daily log sheets and adhere to safety rules.
