Job summary

Technique, a Michigan-based precision sheet metal and welded assemblies manufacturer, seeks a 2nd Shift Powder Coat Technician for our Jackson facility. You will apply powder coat, wet spray, Cerakote, and hydro dip on various materials, and perform prep, masking, and blasting to meet quality and on-time goals.

You will inspect coated products, troubleshoot defects, document quality, and support safety and process improvements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in powder coating, paint shop operations, or manufacturing.
• Ability to understand basic mechanical techniques.
• Ability to work independently with supervision and to problem solve.
• Ability to pass road test and drive Technique trucks preferred.
• Ability to frequently lift and move items over 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Work safely and follow safety procedures.
• Prepare parts for coating and perform preparation techniques.
• Apply coating techniques using powder coat, wet spray, Cerakote, and hydro dip.
• Operate coating equipment including guns, hoppers, and booth systems.
• Operate a lift truck or obtain license as required.
• Monitor gauges, detect defects, and troubleshoot conveyor issues.
• Ensure quality and on-time delivery of coated components.
• Maintain and repair painting equipment as needed.
• Use job travelers and blueprints; read customer prints.
• Utilize ERP system (E2) for inventory and process control.
• Inspect painted product and complete documentation.
• Determine paint quality and bake parts within time limits.
• Troubleshoot powder coat process to meet specs.
• Assemble and manage fixtures; verify before quality approval.
• Package product to print and prepare for dispatch on time.
• Support development and process improvement; participate in safety.
