Job summary

Technique is seeking a Powder Coat General Operator for our Jackson, Michigan facility. You will learn and train within the Powder Coat department, prepare parts for coating, apply powder coat, and operate coating equipment including guns, hoppers, and booth systems.

Training will cover machine gauges, quality checks, and blueprint reading to support on-time production. The role requires willingness to work second shift, stand for long periods, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing or finishing environment preferred.
• Ability to learn and follow powder coat application principles and practices.
• Basic blueprint reading skills.
• Ability to operate or learn to operate a lift truck (license preferred).
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work safely and follow safety procedures.
• Overtime flexibility as required.
• This role requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Exposure to fumes and finishing chemicals.

Responsibilities

• Learn and train within the Powder Coat department.
• Prepare parts for coating: load/unload conveyors, clean parts, remove debris or rust.
• Apply powder coat following established practices.
• Operate coating equipment including guns, hoppers, and booth systems.
• Operate a lift truck or obtain a lift truck license.
• Monitor equipment gauges and detect defects.
• Ensure quality and on-time production.
• Maintain painting equipment and cleaning procedures.
• Use job travelers to document production work.
• Read and apply basic blueprint information.
