Job description

Job Responsibilities
  • Prepare metal surfaces by sanding, grinding, or deburring using tools such as dual action sanders, grinders, hand chisels, and sandblasting.
  • Mask components with tape and paper to prevent overspray.
  • Disassemble units and accessories for prepping and painting, identifying specific job requirements.
  • Utilize various hand tools including sockets, screwdrivers, and wrenches.
  • Prepare parts for painting through cleaning, sanding, taping, and hanging.
  • Ensure surfaces are adequately prepared for painting.
  • Maintain and clean paint equipment regularly.
  • Keep the work area clean daily.
  • Maintain regular and prompt attendance.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and handle colleagues professionally.

Skills & Abilities

Education: High School diploma or GED; vocational training preferred.

Experience: At least 1 year in paint prep preferred; ability to lift 70 lbs; proficient with hand tools, shop equipment including forklifts and cranes; good mechanical knowledge; understanding blueprints.

Certificates & Licenses: Ability to pass Hi-Lo and Crane training for respective permits.

Physical Demands

Constantly standing and walking; occasionally sitting, climbing, squatting; frequently reaching above shoulder; handling weights from 10 lbs to over 100 lbs; frequent pushing and pulling activities.

Occupation activity levels are categorized as frequently, occasionally, or not applicable, based on time spent per activity.
