Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems in Massachusetts seeks a reliable Shift Operator to support SPARC operations, monitor plant systems, and assist with commissioning and steady-state operations from the control room and in the field.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma and 5 years of facility operations experience, with a background in electrical systems, cooling water, and a strong safety mindset.

Qualifications

• High School/GED required.
• 5 years of operations experience at complex facilities.
• Experience in low-voltage and/or complex electrical environments.
• Experience with large cooling water systems.
• Previously qualified Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) / tagging program experience.
• Background in complex facility operations (power plant, oil & gas, LNG, etc.).
• Strong safety mindset with demonstrated safety performance.
• Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems and their operation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; thrives in changing environments; quick learner.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and maintain plant systems and equipment supporting SPARC operations.
• Troubleshoot cooling water, compressed air, HVAC, cryogenics, liquid nitrogen, and electrical distribution systems.
• Safely operate plant equipment under normal and abnormal conditions from the control room and in the field.
• Perform switching and tagging (Lockout/Tagout) to support maintenance and commissioning.
• Participate in procedure development, revision, and optimization.
• Support system testing and commissioning activities.
• Adhere to human performance and safety standards in all activities.
