Job description

Villari Foods is currently seeking a Production Supervisor for our Warsaw, NC location second shift. The right candidate will have strong leadership skills, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to quality products. They will be responsible for supervising and coordinating employees.

Position Overview:

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in grinding, mixing, stuffing, packing, curing, shipping, and smoking meats such as hot dogs, smoked sausage, hams, loins, bacon, and a variety of smoked meats. This position is responsible for food safety.

Specific Duties:
  • Follow formulas for batching injection, mixing, emulsifying, stuffing, curing or cooking meats.
  • Work with USDA and QA inspectors to ensure food safety and quality.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to meet staffing levels, foster positive employee relations, ensure safety, policy adherence, and compliance with employment laws.
  • Operate and maintain equipment according to specifications.
  • Train workers in the safe, productive, and efficient operation of equipment.
  • Manage employee performance through training, coaching, counseling, performance improvement programs, and evaluations.
  • Ensure GMPs, SSOPs, and CCPs are followed in the area.
  • Mix dry and liquid curing mixtures and spices with meat (injection and kitchen only).
  • Control smoke-room equipment, batching, grinding, mixing, emulsification, stuffing into casings, and packing.
  • Monitor operating conditions of smoke-houses and detect malfunctions.
  • Observe color and appearance of meats to verify quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Ensure a safe work environment through inspections, PPE enforcement, training, and hazard correction.
  • Must be trained in HACCP and SQF protocols.
  • Perform all other tasks assigned by management.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

The work environment includes cold temperatures (50°F to 10°F), exposure to moving machinery, fumes, chemicals, and noise. Cold-weather gear is provided. Employees may lift up to 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally. Must be able to drive, see clearly, speak, hear, and use various tools and machinery, and stand or climb as needed.
