Job description

Summary:

The Welder will weld, cut, and braze metal pieces and products by using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment. The welder will be required to complete small/simple fabrications and large complex fabrications to specifications. The Welder is required to comply with all MPI policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Read and comprehend product blueprints and layouts to accurately fit structural parts together in shop in preparation to welding.
  2. Understand American Welding Society standard symbols.
  3. Plan details of work order procedures; gather required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job.
  4. Lay out guidelines or marks on metal parts and cut metal with a cutting torch.
  5. Repair and fabricate various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment.
  6. Monitor the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage.
  7. Prepare, assemble, and tack weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
  8. Weld metal structural components together in the fabrication of stainless steel, aluminum, and other structures.
  9. Perform first piece inspections as well as all subsequent inspections as required by RMF standards.
  10. Adjust welding equipment to its prescribed settings.
  11. Utilize safety devices and wear all mandatory personal protective safety equipment.
  12. Operate power tools.
  13. Operate forklift if needed once certified.
  14. Change gas tanks as needed.
  15. Perform simple maintenance repairs as required.
  16. Notify supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.
  17. All other duties assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Experience:

1 year of relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Time Management.
  • Problem Solving Skills.
  • Good understanding of basic mathematics.

Ability to:

  • Read blueprints.
  • Read measuring devices (Tape Measures).
  • Work alone with little to no direction.
  • Read and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner.
  • Use proper personal protective equipment.

Strength Level: 25-40 pounds.

Note: Anything over 40 pounds will need two people or lifting assist device.
