Job description

Position Summary: The mechanic supports plant operations by making necessary repairs and adjustments to production equipment in a safe and timely manner. This positions also adds chemicals to wastewater for processing.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Receives work orders, diagnoses trouble and performs work as required.
  • Notifies supervisor of any trouble of a complex nature.
  • Diagnoses and makes repairs or adjustments to production equipment and water treatment plant equipment such as: print machines, dryers, tenter frames, pumps, etc.
  • Performs preventive maintenance work as directed by management.
  • Performs moderate amount of electrical work as directed by management.
  • Keeps machinery clean and painted as required.
  • Operation of a Ford 3000 tractor is required.
  • Removes snow/ice from designated areas using hand tools and tractor.
  • Maintains good housekeeping in work area.
  • Follows all safety procedures and policies and advises supervisor of any unsafe conditions.
  • Any other duties as requested by supervisor.

Role Qualifications/Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Possess and maintain general knowledge of print machines, gas dryers, tenter frames etc.
  • Proficiency in the use of various hand, power shop, plumbing and welding tools, cleaning and painting equipment.
  • Familiarity with various chemicals in the water treatment plant, lubricants, cleaning solvents, de-watered sludge.
  • Time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong team player.
  • Commitment to company values.
  • Employee must use prescribed safety equipment & supply own hand tools.*
