HOURS:

(Starting times and hours may vary depending on coverage due to report-offs and the production schedule, especially during holidays.)

JOB SUMMARY / JOB DUTIES:

The Material Handler is responsible for receiving, storing, picking, and distributing materials and products within the establishment. Responsibilities include:

  1. Reading production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
  2. Transporting materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or other designated areas.
  3. Sorting and placing materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
  4. Filling requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials or stock items and distributing them to production areas.
  5. Assembling customer orders from stock and placing orders on pallets.
  6. Marking materials with identifying information.
  7. Opening bales, crates, and other containers.
  8. Recording amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
  9. Weighing or counting items for distribution within the plant to ensure conformance to company standards.
  10. Operating and being certified to drive material handling equipment.
  11. Transporting stored items within the warehouse.
  12. Loading and unloading trailers of palletized and non-palletized products.
  13. Using manual and automated material handling equipment.
  14. Adhering to safety and hygiene guidelines for safe housekeeping and personal protection.
  15. Maintaining a clean work area, removing trash, and storing supplies appropriately.
  16. Keeping aisles and exits clear and free from obstructions.
  17. Following safe lifting and carrying instructions, and reporting defective equipment.
  18. Reporting all job-related injuries to supervision.
  19. Taking photos of incoming or outgoing loads and logging items and pictures for documentation.
  20. Using computers to enter records.
  21. Climbing and working at heights of material tanks when applicable.
  22. Checking seals and taking samples from tank trailers.
  23. Preparing and conducting cycle count inventories and recording counts.
  24. Supporting continuous improvement initiatives including 5S.
  25. Performing other duties as required.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or GED and/or 1-year production experience in a manufacturing environment are required. Experience with Oracle or similar WMS systems, warehouse experience, and forklift operation are preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and driving; frequent use of hands; occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling; continuous talking and hearing; seldom tasting and smelling; lifting up to 100 lbs. frequently, and various other physical activities as detailed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The environment ranges from quiet office areas to moderate noise in the warehouse. Temperature varies with seasonal changes.
