Description
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Responsible for loading, unloading, and moving materials within or near plants or work sites, performing the duties outlined below.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned):
• Follows work orders or verbal instructions to determine which materials or containers to move.
• Opens containers as needed.
• Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
• Loads materials into vehicles and secure them with strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
• Transports materials from storage or work sites to designated areas.
• Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or mark information on cases, bales, or other containers.
• Removes samples of materials, labels with identifying information, and delivers samples to quality control for analysis.
• Lifts heavy objects by hand or with a power hoist and clean work areas, machines, and equipment to assist machine operators.
• Operates a forklift to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
• Observes safety and security procedures, determine appropriate actions beyond guidelines, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
• High school diploma or up to one-month related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to carry out simple instructions and handle standardized situations with minimal variability.
• Basic knowledge of software applications.
• Ability to balance team and individual responsibilities.
• Exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views and demonstrates the ability to give and receive feedback.
