RTX’s Pratt & Whitney division seeks a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to support the Vapor Phase Aluminide coating cell on the Asheville, NC production floor, providing real-time technical support and rapid response to quality issues.

4–8 years of coating experience in manufacturing, strong data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration are required to lead investigations and implement corrective actions for improved yield and equipment utilization.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or AA/AS degree with 4–8 years' relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience supporting coating processes in a production setting is strongly preferred.
• U.S. citizenship is required for access to information.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on engineering support to production within the VPA Coating Cell.
• Respond rapidly to quality issues and work stoppages on the production floor.
• Troubleshoot and resolve process interruptions to maintain continuous part flow.
• Provide real-time technical support to operators and operation leaders during production shifts.

What You Will Do:

• This role provides hands-on engineering support to production within the Vapor Phase Aluminide (VPA) Coating Cell, with the flexibility to support other coating processes within the Metallic Business Unit as needed. This role focuses on rapid response to quality and process disruptions to maintain continuous part flow and driving data driven improvements to manufacturing processes.
• Respond rapidly to quality issues and work stoppages on the production floor
• Troubleshoot and resolve process interruptions to maintain continuous part flow and minimize downtime
• Provide real-time technical support to operators and operation leaders during production shifts
• Coordinate with quality, maintenance, EH&S, and engineering teams to rapidly contain and resolve manufacturing issues.
• Lead or support root cause investigations for production issues and yield losses.
• Support implementation and verification of corrective and preventive actions.
• Identify and implement process improvements to reduce downtime, improve yield, and enhance equipment utilization.
• Support process development, trials, and qualification activities for parts, processes, or equipment.
• Support documentation updates including work instructions, control plans, and engineering standards.
• Support training of operators on process standards and troubleshooting techniques.
• This is a 2nd shift role; schedule is Weekday evenings to Early morning hours. There is a shift premium associated with the compensation plan for working this shift.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training), with 4 to 8 years' relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience supporting coating processes in a production setting is strongly preferred.
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
• Ability to collect and analyze production or quality data to support problem solving and process improvements.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Experience supporting production environments and working directly with operators and cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated ability to trouble shoot manufacturing process issues and equipment disruptions.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Aerospace Industry experience
• Hands-on experience in a manufacturing coatings environment is strongly preferred.
• Experience with equipment qualifications and process trials.

This position is classified as:

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 60,000 USD - 114,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
