Salm Partners in Wisconsin seeks an experienced Manufacturing Shift Manager to oversee production operations across blending, stuffing, packaging, and palletizing areas. You will supervise shift teams, drive continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with GMP, USDA-FSIS, and SQF standards.
The role requires strong leadership, scheduling, and problem-solving skills, plus knowledge of GMP/HACCP and proficiency in MS Office.

Oversees all operations and sanitation-related activities for the assigned shift Monitors and tracks production performance and key performance metric; leads process improvements throughout the manufacturing operation, being a driver for a culture of continuous improvement, cost savings and efficiency Provides process expertise, mentoring and direction to support manufacturing goals and objectives. Ensures shift compliance with all safety, food safety, quality, SQF, GMP and USDA requirements.
Directly supervises production Supervisors; carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training partners; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining partners; addressing complaints and resolving personnel problems.
A Bachelors degree in Business, Operations Management or related field is normally required; or if non-degreed, a minimum of ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prior experience in a USDA-regulated food manufacturing environment is required, preferably with ready-to-eat processed meats.

Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as operational parameters, safety rules, equipment operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, and the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Must also be able to speak effectively before groups of partners of the organization.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess strong computer proficiency Word, Excel, Outlook, and the Internet. Previous experience with MAS 500 or related integrated manufacturing software is required.
Must possess the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, and percentages, and the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
Must have the ability to solve problems by applying root cause problem solving methods, and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists, and the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Training or experience applying Root Cause Problem Solving methodologies is preferred.
While performing the duties of this job, the partner is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear. The partner is frequently required to stand and walk. The partner must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision, color vision and depth perception.
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a partner encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the office work environment is low, and in the production work environment is usually loud. There is a wide variation of temperatures, ranging from 35° F to 100° F in the various production work areas. The production environment is wet and slippery most times. Partners are required to wear frocks, hairnets, slip-resistant footwear and hearing protection at all times on the production floor. Gloves, goggles, rain suits and boots may be required at different times in the course of the work being performed.
