Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the 2nd shift in Kansas City, MO. The role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment in a fast-paced food processing environment.

You will diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, and implement repairs to keep production running. Relocation assistance is available, with a shift differential of $1.00/hr for 2nd shift and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED with 1+ years of related experience in industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing environment.
Vocational/Technical diploma or associate degree in a maintenance field is preferred.
Ability to read work orders, blueprints, schematics and equipment manuals.

Responsibilities

Review work orders and materials; create work orders in SAP and respond to emergencies promptly.
Monitor machinery in operation; disassemble, diagnose, replace faulty parts and test repairs.
Install and maintain mechanical/electrical systems, including piping, pumps, and related equipment.
Perform regular preventive maintenance and adhere to safety protocols (LOCKOUT/TAGOUT, GMPs).
Fabricate replacement parts as needed using welding and sheet metal work.
