Job summary

Trinidad Benham in LaGrange, GA seeks a Maintenance Technician to sustain electrical and mechanical condition of production equipment, maximize run time and minimize scrap. You will monitor line performance, perform preventive maintenance and support uptime across a fast-paced packaging line.

The role requires coordinating with line operators, performing maintenance tasks, assisting with changes, recording downtime data, and upholding safety and food-packaging quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in a maintenance role in manufacturing or production environment.
• Able to lift 35 lbs and stand for long shifts.
• Strong problem-solving and attention to safety.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with line operators to determine products and run order.
• Perform electrical/mechanical procedures to meet the production schedule.
• Assist with line changes and equipment adjustments.
• Provide maintenance support to minimize downtime and keep lines running.
• Confer with operators to identify causes of quality issues and help fix them.
• Complete daily maintenance tasks including rebuilds and projects.
• When line is down, perform repairs to restore operation and seek help if needed.
• Record downtime, parts used, and frequency for each machine.
• Help train and develop teammates in production and maintenance techniques.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and good housekeeping.
• Perform preventive maintenance and basic machining of parts as required.
• Ensure packaging safety, food defense and quality standards are upheld.
• Act as Alternate team member to cover responsibilities when needed.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Description

This position is responsible for maintaining the electrical and mechanical condition of the production equipment in a manner designed to maximize production, minimize scrap and ensure machines achieve maximum run time.

Key Responsibilities

• Communicate with the line operators at the start of each shift to determine products to be run and order in which to produce them.


• Perform electrical and/or mechanical procedures necessary to produce to the schedule.


• Assist operators in changing over and adjusting their equipment to produce product.


• Provide maintenance support by responding to requests from machine operators promptly in order to ensure that line continues running and/or are brought back up quickly.


• Confer with machine operators performing periodic quality checks to identify machine conditions causing poor quality and assist in correcting as needed.


• Complete daily maintenance responsibilities including part rebuilds and projects.


• When line is down, complete repairs necessary to get line back up. If line is not back up in a reasonable length of time seek advice and help.


• Record and maintain data on downtime, parts replacements and frequency for each machine.


• Help train and develop other team members/machine operators in production and team techniques.


• Maintain a clean work area and good housekeeping practices.


• Complete all work assigned including preventative maintenance, rebuilds, building maintenance, etc.


• Perform some basic machining of shafts, brackets, rollers, plates, etc.


• Responsible for ensuring food packaging safety, food defense and quality standards.


• Participate as an Alternate team member. Alternate team member will provide coverage for said responsibilities in absence and member will provide coverage for Alternate team member’s responsibilities in case of their absence.


• Other duties as requested or required.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Ability to lift 35 lbs. Ability to stand ten hours (twelve during busy season) and walk up and down steps.
