Job summary

Welch Packaging Group in Toledo, OH is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician to keep production machinery running and safe. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Electrical certification preferred; corrugated packaging experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain company-owned machinery and equipment in proper working order.
• On-call emergency repairs and breakdown control.
• Execute plans for continued improvement of machine safety and housekeeping.
• Perform preventative maintenance with crews and troubleshoot root causes.
• Respond quickly to maintenance requests and prioritize effectively.
• Work with Maintenance Manager to resolve safety issues and ensure tool inventory is organized.

Overview

Supports our production operations by ensuring the optimal performance of manufacturing equipment. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and repairing production machinery to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency. The ideal candidate has a strong background in industrial maintenance, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for maintaining company-owned machinery and equipment in proper working order
• On-call emergency repairs
• Responsible for taking control of breakdowns
• Execute a plan of continued improvement of machine safety and general housekeeping
• Work with crews to complete all preventative maintenance
• Work with machine operator to troubleshoot and determine root cause of mechanical issues
• Respond quickly to maintenance requests and prioritize effectively
• Work hand in hand with Maintenance Manager to resolve any accident waiting to happen forms
• Work as a team to maintain organization and inventory of maintenance shop and tools
• Duties may vary depending on location

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Experience: Electrical certification preferred. Corrugated packaging industry a plus. Strong knowledge of mechanical machinery. Ability to use shop tools and equipment, drill press, shop grinders, welders, oxy-acetylene torch. A good understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. A strong trouble shooting and problem solving ability with practical, mechanical & electrical aptitude. Must be able to read and interpret both electrical and mechanical drawings. Must be fully computer literate with Microsoft environment.

Office Setting, sitting for long periods of time. Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles and vibration. Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
