Job summary

Evapco’s Tower Components, Inc. unit is hiring a Maintenance Technician for the night shift to maintain, repair and install PVC cooling tower manufacturing equipment.

The role covers thermoformers, extruders, cutters, glue machines, vertical bandsaws, forklifts and related systems. The technician will perform advanced troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic failures, conduct PMs, document issues in SharePoint and train junior staff while ensuring safety and

Qualifications

• Advanced understanding of industrial electrical (120/277/480V), mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic theory.
• Fabrication skills including welding, grinding, plasma cut and torch usage.
• Ability to read drawings and electrical schematics.
• Familiar with micrometers, dial calipers, multimeters, vibration, sound and pressure meters.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, inspect, and repair all production machinery, equipment and vehicles.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic failures.
• Repair forklifts, man-lifts, cranes and other equipment as needed.
• Train less experienced maintenance staff.
• Identify bottlenecks and suggest improvements.
• Support safety, quality and productivity targets.
• Attend training as directed by management.
• Perform scheduled PMs on equipment and vehicles.
• Complete maintenance requests and work orders.
• Perform plumbing, welding and electrical projects.

Job Description:

Tower Components, Inc., a fully owned subsidiary of Evapco is currently hiring a Maintenance Technician for the night shift to help support our growing business. This position has the primary job function of maintaining, repairing and installing various manufacturing equipment used to produce PVC cooling tower products including but not limited to; Thermoformers, Extruders, Cutter/Stackers, Glue Machines, Vertical Bandsaws, Forklifts, etc.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

• Maintain, inspect, and repair all production machinery, equipment and vehicles
• Advanced troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and/or hydraulic failures
• Maintain, repair, and rebuild forklifts, man-lifts, company vehicles, cranes, etc.
• Must train any less experienced maintenance personnel
• Identify process bottlenecks and recommend solutions
• Participate in team and shop business problem solving activities that include quality, safety, scrap reduction, and process improvements
• Meet or exceed annual safety, quality, 5-S, and productivity success targets
• Attend training courses as directed by management
• May perform other duties, as assigned
• Emergency maintenance calls during on and off shift hours
• Complete maintenance requests and work orders
• Perform plumbing, welding, electrical and construction type projects
• Need to be available during all snow events
• Performs scheduled PMs on a regular basis on production machinery, vehicles and forklifts, etc.
• Be involved in mechanical diagnostic type work until finding the issue and then document in SharePoint
• Maintain a neat and orderly work area, parts supply and toolbox at all times

• Advanced understanding in industrial electrical (120/277/480 volts), mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic theory
• Must have fabrication skills, know how to weld, grind, plasma cut, run a torch, etc. and able to read drawing packets including electrical schematics
• Understanding and proper use of various measuring devices such as micrometers, dial calipers, electrical multi-meters, vibration meters, sound meters, pressure meters, etc.
• Basic shop math (i.e., add/subtract/divide/multiply, whole numbers and fractions)
• Familiar with common hand and power tools

High School diploma or GED equivalent, vocational school preferred

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

• Manufacturing, office, and outdoor environments
• Continuous standing, squatting, bending, pulling, and lifting throughout the workday
• Maybe required to work above ground at heights up to 40 ft.
• Maybe required to work in tanks, below grade and get into tight spaces Lifting of 50 lbs. or less
• Must wear PPE when required
• Work hours are set to our standard times, but we are required to work overtime as needed until critical equipment is up and running again and some Saturdays and Sundays
• We require good mechanical hand coordination and cognitive abilities

Typical Work Week:

• Mon - Thurs, 10hr shifts/day
• 2nd shift starts at 5pm and ends at 3:30am
• OT can be required on Friday
