Job summary

EVAPCO, Inc. is seeking a skilled machinist for the 2nd shift to operate mechanical equipment and fabricate parts for Evaporator and eco-Air product lines. You will use drawings and BOMs to ensure dimensions and tolerances meet specifications.

You’ll plan tooling, set up machines, troubleshoot programs, perform quality checks, and maintain a safe, organized work area. Prior CNC experience with Okuma Genos, Haas, or similar platforms is preferred.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a machining environment.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Vocational training or machinist apprenticeship preferred.
  • Ability to read drawings and BOMs.
  • Experience CNC programming with Okuma Genos, Haas or equivalent.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers).

Responsibilities

  • Review drawings and sample parts to understand tolerances.
  • Plan machine sequences, fixturing, and tooling.
  • Set up and change tooling as required.
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure parts meet specs.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work area and follow shop rules.

Job description

Job Summary

Operating mechanical equipment to fabricate and construct parts for use in welding and final building of unit assemblies for Evaporator and eco-Air product lines. Uses drawings and documentation to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels of the finished product. This position will also provide technician support for the department.

Knowledge, Skills, & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is required.
  • 3 or more years of experience in a machining environment
  • Completion of vocational training or experience as a machinist apprentice is preferred
  • Basic understanding of metals and material properties
  • Use, read, and comprehend a tape measure and caliper to within 1/32\", is required.
  • Basic nomenclature and practical use of hand tools is required.
  • Experience in using and programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines.
  • Ability to use precision tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.) to take accurate measurements.
  • Reading and understanding production specifications, engineering drawings, and BOM's, is required.
  • Experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC equipment, including Okuma Genos, Okuma CNC, Haas CNC, or equivalent CNC machining platforms.
  • Understanding and ability to create programs using CNC G Code.
Essential Functions
  • Review drawings and sample parts to understand fabrication and tolerance requirements.
  • Plan machine, fixturing, and tooling sequence to achieve desired output.
  • Troubleshoot programs for lathe and mill, including setting factors for speed, feed, and unique part geometry.
  • Select and specify tooling on a per-project basis.
  • Set up and change tooling as required.
  • Identify and load materials per requirements.
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Perform daily maintenance and preventive maintenance on machines.
  • Troubleshoot machine problems as required.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area on a daily basis.
  • Abide by all shop work rules and guidelines.
  • Participate in team and shop business problem-solving activities that include quality, safety, scrap reduction, and process improvements.
  • Attend related training courses as scheduled.
  • Follow all related written and oral work instructions.
  • Assist in other areas of the department as requested.
  • May perform other duties as assigned
Typical Working Conditions
  • Industrial setting (i.e., factory, outdoor)
  • Temperature Extremes, in general, from 20° F. to 110° F.
  • Requires very good agility (i.e., bending, standing, walking, climbing, reaching, squatting, twisting, and lifting)
  • Normal work week Monday through Friday, Saturday work likely, some Sunday work
  • May be required to work swing or graveyard shift, when business needs dictate
