Job summary

Jobot is seeking a 2nd Shift Maintenance Lead in Romeoville, IL to oversee high‑speed packaging equipment in a 24/7 operation. You will lead maintenance activities, troubleshoot gear, and coordinate with production and sanitation teams.

Requirements include 5+ years in mechanical/electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic systems, experience with conveyors and PLCs, and the ability to read electrical schematics. English/Spanish bilingual is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Experience with high-speed packaging and conveyor systems.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and PLCs.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
• Strong safety knowledge (LOTO, OSHA) and work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Lead maintenance activities and support the Maintenance Manager in daily operations
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair high-speed packaging and processing equipment
• Perform electrical troubleshooting (110/230/460V systems, motors, relays, panels, wiring)
• Conduct preventive maintenance and schedule work orders
• Troubleshoot and perform minor programming on PLC systems
• Maintain conveyors, wrappers, check-weighers, cartoners, and case packers
• Support facility maintenance including plumbing, lighting, and building systems
• Train employees on equipment safety, lifts, and welding practices
• Assist with wastewater system operations and coverage
• Coordinate and monitor contractors performing maintenance or repairs
• Ensure compliance with safety standards including LOTO and OSHA guidelines
• Maintain equipment readiness for production and minimize downtime
• Fabricate parts and modify equipment as needed
• Communicate effectively across maintenance, production, sanitation, and leadership teams

Qualifications – Needed

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
• Strong background in food manufacturing (USDA or FDA environments)
• Experience with high-speed packaging and conveyor systems
• Proven ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and PLCs
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
• Experience with preventive maintenance programs
• Strong understanding of safety protocols (LOTO, OSHA)
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
