Job summary

Jobot in Romeoville, IL seeks a 2nd Shift Maintenance Lead for high-speed packaging equipment. The role focuses on leading maintenance activities, diagnosing and repairing equipment, and ensuring safety and reliability on a 24/7 plant.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in mechanical/electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic systems, PLC troubleshooting, and experience in USDA/FDA environments. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus; hybrid opportunities are unlikely.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Strong background in food manufacturing (USDA or FDA environments).
• Experience with high-speed packaging and conveyor systems.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and PLCs.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics.
• Experience with preventive maintenance programs.
• Strong understanding of safety protocols (LOTO, OSHA).
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance activities and support the Maintenance Manager in daily operations.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair high-speed packaging and processing equipment.
• Perform electrical troubleshooting (110/230/460V systems, motors, relays, panels, wiring).
• Conduct preventive maintenance and schedule work orders.
• Troubleshoot and perform minor programming on PLC systems.
• Maintain conveyors, wrappers, check-weighers, cartoners, and case packers.
• Support facility maintenance including plumbing, lighting, and building systems.
• Train employees on equipment safety, lifts, and welding practices.
• Assist with wastewater system operations and coverage.
• Coordinate and monitor contractors performing maintenance or repairs.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards including LOTO and OSHA guidelines.
• Maintain equipment readiness for production and minimize downtime.
• Fabricate parts and modify equipment as needed.
• Communicate effectively across maintenance, production, sanitation, and leadership teams.
