Machinist Job Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC Machines (Haas, Okuma, PAMA, etc.)
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions to ensure accurate production
- Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and materials for each job
- Perform in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments
- Make program edits and offsets as needed to maintain tight tolerances
- Troubleshoot machining issues and optimize setups for efficiency and quality
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all safety procedures and contribute to a safe working environment
- Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and team members to meet production goals and deadlines
- Assist with preventative maintenance and basic machine upkeep
- Other duties as assigned
- Direct customer contact may be required at times.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of CNC machining experience in a job shop or high-mix environment
- Proficiency in setting up and operating CNC machines, preferably Haas, Okuma, PAMA, etc.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and Technical drawings
- Experience with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc)
- Solid understanding of machining processes, tooling, speeds, and feeds
- Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple jobs or setups
- Commitment to quality, accuracy, and safety
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school training preferred
- Physical Requirements: bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, climbing ladders, must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to read complex engineering drawing and work in close tolerances.
- Ability to program CNC equipment a plus.
- Attention to detail and a sense of urgency.
