  • Estimated hourly pay: $28.41 - $41.74. Plus shift differential and overtime, if applicable.

Are you ready to make your mark? If you're a Machinist I, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

The Machinist I reports to the manufacturing supervisor and is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a limited number of machine types in an industrial setting. The position works under a high level of supervision, with limited troubleshooting, decision-making, and problem solving. There is limited contact with external suppliers or customers.

What you will be doing

Essential Functions

  • Assist in the setup and operation of machines with little or no supervision and perform process checks or inspections per documentation.
  • Complete paperwork adhering to record retention requirements.
  • Utilize basic continuous improvement processes to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Document nonconforming material, participate in root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Follow all safety standards, regulations, and operating procedures.
  • Use computer programs to enter part data, log time, look up instructions and blueprints, and download programs.
  • Follow work instructions, setup sheets, and method documents to operate machines and inspect parts.
  • Use gauging equipment to ensure parts meet specifications throughout production.
  • Maintain measuring instruments and test equipment, and inspect parts for cleanliness and quality.
  • Interpret blueprints for production tasks and perform routed operations of precision parts.

Other Functions

  • Communicate project status, updates, and instructions; review item status in MRP.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Perform secondary tasks such as deburring and sub-assembly as certified.
  • Provide training to others when necessary.
  • Set up and adjust CNC machinery as needed.
  • Monitor and maintain cutting tools.
  • Report production or machine issues to supervisors.
  • Promote teamwork and collaboration.
  • Verify calibration and expiration dates of equipment.
  • Obtain necessary certifications for processes.
  • Complete and review product paperwork accurately.
  • Follow departmental safety rules and regulations.

What We Are Looking For

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities required include inspection techniques, reading blueprints, using inspection tools, understanding GD&T, CNC programming, quality importance, computer literacy, communication skills, troubleshooting, teamwork, and attention to detail.

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience

  • Related work experience or applicable trade school degree.
