Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Brooklyn Park, MN is seeking a manufacturing operations professional to lead shop floor safety, productivity, and quality initiatives.

You will coordinate with production management to align priorities, manage staffing and tooling, and drive continuous improvement through Lean concepts and corporate quality programs. The role requires strong leadership, a focus on safety, and experience with SAP and CQMS.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and improve safety on the shop floor; eliminate unsafe operations and maintain a clean product environment.
• Determine processing needs to provide fixtures, tooling and methods to meet schedules and production requirements.
• Coordinate daily with production management to designate workload, priorities and sequence of work.
• Assess overtime needs, prioritize when resources are insufficient, and decide on disciplinary actions when necessary.
• Suggest changes to working conditions and equipment to increase efficiency and reduce non-value-added activities.
• Ensure product quality and conformity to Caterpillar's Quality Policy while controlling costs.
• Ensure timely procurement and distribution of necessary parts and materials.
• Lead corporate initiatives such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, CQMS/ISO certifications, etc.
• Train and develop staff, manage timekeeping, estimate personnel needs, and assign work.

What You Can Look Forward To In This Role

• Determine overtime need, establish priorities when resources are insufficient, and evaluate when disciplinary action is necessary.
• Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency. Works to improve processes, timeliness and reduce costs by eliminating non-value-added activities.
• Ensure the quality of product produced and conforms to Caterpillars Quality Policy while maintaining cost.
• Ensure necessary parts and materials are ordered and distributed in a timely and efficient manner.
• Implement various corporate initiatives such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, CQMS (Caterpillar Quality Management System) / ISO certification, etc.
• Train and develop staff, perform time keeping, estimate personnel needs, assign work, meet completion dates, and ensure consistent application of organizational needs.

• Talent Management: Knowledge of human resources and talent management processes; ability to lead, motivate, evaluate, and reward employees at the workplace.
• Manufacturing Operations: Knowledge of manufacturing operations; ability to perform day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility for products.
• Production Training: Knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for delivering formal and informal training on the safe and efficient operation of production machinery; ability to conduct effective formal and situation-specific training.

• At least 2 years in an operations environment.
• Formal (direct or indirect) leadership experience in an operations or military environment.
• A team playing mindset.
• A strong focus on safety.
• Experience working with SAP
• Lean and 5S experience
• Familiarity with CQMS (Caterpillar Quality Management System)

The primary location for this position is Brooklyn Park, MN.

This position requires employees to work onsite in the office five days a week

Summary Pay Range

$89,210.00 - $133,810.00
