Quality Assurance & Food Safety
Beardstown, Illinois

Job Summary:

The JBS Pork team is seeking a 2nd Shift QA Lead Technician. The QA Team Lead will perform all standard QA technician responsibilities and additionally:

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Support the supervisor with pre- and post-shift activities.
  • Respond to QA inspection calls.
  • Assist the supervisor in delegating tasks and providing timely instructions for production changes.
  • Ensure standardized work is followed.
  • Ensure employees have the necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Mentor employees daily.
  • Cover for absent employees and train/cross-train other staff as needed.
  • Train and cross-train QA techs.
  • Coordinate with QA Supervisors to ensure understanding of specs for daily production.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Ability to pass all required safety courses provided by JBS.
  • Self-motivated, trustworthy, capable of working independently.
  • Ability to motivate, train, and teach employees to JBS standards.
  • Willingness to collaborate with line supervisors on placement decisions and make sheets.
  • Knowledge of all jobs on the designated line or ability to learn them.
  • Confidence in coaching and counseling employees about qualification issues.
  • Proficiency in line jobs.
  • Strong safety record.
  • Attendance record with less than 3 points preferred.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Proven positive work performance.
Physical Requirements:
  • Constant walking or standing.
  • Use of hands and fingers.
  • Reach with hands and arms.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Desk work.
  • Frequent visits to production areas with hot/cold environments, smells, PPE required.
  • Work 40+ hours/week, including weekends and rotating shifts.
  • Navigate uneven and slippery surfaces.
  • Exposure to blades, machinery, chemicals, loud noise, and vehicles.
