Job summary

Tate Inc. is seeking a Laser Operator in the United States to safely perform laser cutting for a range of manufacturing products and to participate in design and production discussions across departments.

You will collaborate with quality and management to maintain high standards and timely production. The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, at least 5 years of manufacturing experience, and 3 years of laser machinery experience.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years minimum experience in manufacturing.
  • 3 years minimum experience in operating, programming, or repairing laser machinery.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Able to work in a team environment and interface with a diverse workforce.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and crouch for an 8-hour shift.

Responsibilities

  • Operates, programs, and troubleshoots tube laser machinery.
  • Conducts first piece article inspections and documentation of part dimensions per engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Performs and documents routine maintenance on machines as directed.
  • Understands the company’s quality program and aids management in scheduling workload to optimize machine run time.
  • Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to Team Leader or Supervisor.
  • Maintains good housekeeping and follows established safety procedures.
  • Follows all policies, procedures, and work instructions including SOPs, MOPs, JSAs, and Safety Manual.

About the Role

The Laser Operator safely performs laser cutting for a variety of manufacturing products. The Laser Operator also participates in both design and production related topics and effectively engages in cross functional collaboration with other manufacturing departments, quality, and management.

What You’ll Do

  • Operates, programs, and troubleshoots tube laser machinery.
  • Conducts first piece article inspections and documentation of part dimensions per engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Performs and documents routine maintenance on machines as directed.
  • Understands the company’s quality program and aids management in scheduling workload to optimize machine run time.
  • Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to Team Leader or Supervisor.
  • Maintains good housekeeping and follows established safety procedures.
  • Follows all policies, procedures, and work instructions including Employee Handbook, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Manufacturing Operating Procedures (MOPs), Job Safety Analysis (JSAs), and Safety Manual.
  • Maintains awareness of individual contribution to and impact of the quality, safety, environmental, and product compliance policies and activities; reports all quality issues, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions to the proper personnel.

Additional Expectations

  • Remain compliant with the Code of Conduct and Policies which includes the Kingspan Group Compliance Policy.
  • Ensure that all duties related to product compliance are adhered to in accordance with the Product Compliance Policy, Laws, Regulations, and market demands.
  • Responsible for all tasks to achieve compliance goals and demands of the Compliance Management System.
  • Must raise concerns related to the Compliance Management System to their supervisor, manager, or any member of the Leadership Team, or through the confidential whistle blower service.

What You’ll Bring

  • High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years minimum experience in manufacturing.
  • 3 years minimum experience in operating, programming, or repairing laser machinery.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions
  • Able to work in a team environment and interface with a diverse workforce.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Ability to use various tools and measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, tape measure, dial indicator, and feeler gauges.
  • Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and crouch for an 8-hour shift.
  • Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle or feel machinery, equipment or parts and work near moving mechanical parts.
