Job summary

Valor is seeking a detail-oriented Maintenance Engineer for our Gulf Shores property. Respond to guest requests, perform preventive maintenance on hotel equipment, and ensure a safe, clean environment across kitchen, laundry, boiler, plumbing, pool, HVAC and guest areas.

The ideal candidate holds a high school diploma or trade courses in building maintenance, strong communication, and the ability to work rounds and respond to emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent trade school training.
• Ability to communicate hotel services to management, staff and guests.

Responsibilities

• Respond to and handle guest requests in a courteous, efficient, safe manner.
• Perform preventive maintenance and necessary repairs on hotel equipment (kitchen, laundry, boiler, plumbing, pool, HVAC, electrical, guest rooms).
• Maintain cleanliness and general maintenance in engineering spaces and other daily operations.
• Make rounds to ensure everything is in working order.
• Complete maintenance requests, document equipment and log for next shift.
• Respond to emergencies including fire alarms and power failures; notify authorities.
• Assist with parking lot maintenance, sand/snow removal and special events as needed.
• Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.

POSITION PROFILE

Respond to all engineering service calls, giving priority to guest requests, and maintain hotel equipment in an efficient, safe, accident-free manner. Ensure a safe, resourceful, and well-maintained hotel environment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILTIES

• Respond to and handle guest requests in a courteous, efficient, safe manner.
• Perform preventive maintenance and necessary repairs on all hotel equipment, including kitchen, laundry, boiler, plumbing, pool, HVAC, electrical and guest rooms.
• Maintain the cleanliness and general maintenance duties in the engineering spaces as well as other assigned daily operations.
• Make rounds of the hotel property to ensure everything is in working order.
• Complete maintenance requests, take equipment and maintain log to notify the next shift.
• Respond to all emergency situations including fire alarms, bomb threats, disasters and power failures; notify the appropriate authorities.
• Assist with maintenance of parking lot and sand/snow removal and special events as needed.
• Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• High school diploma or equivalent trade school, special courses in building maintenance and construction.
• Communicate information and hotel services to management, staff and guests.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Lift/Push/Pull/Carry - up to 50 -75 plus lbs. supplies, equipment and machinery.
• Bending - required to perform inspections and repairs frequently throughout shift.
• Kneeling- required to perform inspections and repairs frequently throughout shift.
• Continuous movement throughout hotel required to respond quickly to emergency.
