Job description

Summary:

The primary function of the Heavy Duty Gear Technician is to diagnose and complete repairs on heavy and medium duty trucks. The individual will perform a variety of tasks on heavy-duty trucks, large construction vehicles, and buses, specializing in inspecting, maintaining, and repairing mechanical gears and gearboxes.

4 Day Work Week

Essential Functions:

  • Repair and maintain customer equipment using hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and machine tools.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and examine parts for defects and excessive wear, repairing engine/driveline/ABS related issues utilizing sound mechanical knowledge and computer-based diagnostic programs.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks including inspecting brake systems, wheel bearings, electrical systems, and air systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a technician.
  • Ability to display knowledge of diesel and gas engines.
  • Ability to display knowledge of repair procedures.
