Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a 2nd Shift Fabrications Production Manager in Brooklyn Park, MN. You will lead the Fabrications and Machining teams to achieve PQVC goals while upholding Caterpillar's quality standards.

You will drive safety, efficiency, and cost improvements, coordinating with production management to meet schedules and optimize resources. The role requires strong leadership, problem solving, and effective communication across shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience leading Fabrications and Machining teams.
• Ability to implement Lean/5S and drive cost reductions.
• Strong safety focus and adherence to Caterpillar Quality Policy.
• Proven ability to manage workload, priorities and scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Monitor safety on the shop floor and maintain a clean environment.
• Ensure fixtures, tooling and methods meet production needs.
• Coordinate workload and sequencing with production management.
• Evaluate overtime needs and allocate resources efficiently.
• Drive process improvements to reduce non-value-added activities.
• Maintain product quality and cost targets per policy.

Caterpillar is seeking a 2nd Shift Fabrications Production Manager in Brooklyn Park. In this role, you will guide a team in the Fabrications and Machining departments for Caterpillar Paving Products with a focus on achieving your team’s People, Quality, Velocity and Cost (PQVC) performance goals!

What You Can Look Forward To In This Role

• Monitor and improve safety on the shop floor; eliminate any unsafe operations and ensure a safe and clean product environment.
• Determine processing needs to assure fixtures, tooling and methods are provided to meet schedules and production requirements.
• Daily tie-in with production management to designate work load, priorities and sequence for work assigned.
• Determine overtime need, establish priorities when resources are insufficient, and evaluate when disciplinary action is necessary.
• Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency. Works to improve processes, timeliness and reduce costs by eliminating non-value-added activities.
• Ensure the quality of product produced and conforms to Caterpillars Quality Policy while maintaining cost.
• Implement various corporate initiatives such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, CQMS (Caterpillar Quality Management System) / ISO certification, etc.
• Train and develop staff, perform time keeping, estimate personnel needs, assign work, meet completion dates, and ensure consistent application of organizational needs.

• Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
• Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.

Summary Pay Range

$89,210.00 - $133,810.00
