PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Poultry Processing Supervisor for the Retail or Further processing departments supervises the processing/department personnel not involved in debone or slaughter to ensure all procedures are followed in compliance with Company policies (i.e., HACCP, SSOPs, GMPs) and Federal and State regulations (i.e., USDA, OSHA), while achieving high productivity and customer satisfaction.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
  1. Manage retail or further (value add) processing production line/department to meet production schedules, increase efficiencies, and meet or exceed budget objectives.
  2. Deploy and rotate personnel effectively to optimize efficiency and ergonomics to ensure production schedules are met.
  3. Ensure accurate completion and recording of daily reports (departmental reports, attendance/staffing, yields, etc.).
  4. Identify and communicate opportunities for process optimization and reduce/eliminate repeat deficiencies.
  5. Lead or participate in planning and implementing process improvements, monitor metrics, and respond to trends.
  6. Partner with Quality Assurance to ensure a food-safe and sanitary environment following all specifications and USDA requirements.
  7. Mentor, coach, and train employees, encouraging career development; provide feedback on performance.
  8. Administer performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions fairly and consistently.
  9. Promote safety initiatives and maintain a zero-accident culture.
  10. Collaborate with other departments/shifts to meet or exceed goals.
  11. Learn, understand, and adhere to current Union negotiated contracts if applicable.
  12. Perform additional duties as assigned.
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervise up to 100 employees.
  • Require competencies in sizing up people, delegation, planning, customer focus, and conflict management.
EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree with relevant coursework preferred.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in manufacturing; three (3) years in food manufacturing or poultry preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including knowledge of timekeeping, policy adherence, conflict resolution; three (3) years preferred.
  • Knowledge of poultry processing, food safety regulations, OSHA, GMP, and HACCP.
  • Effective communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Proficient in computer and math skills.
  • Self-starter with initiative and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Follow and promote departmental and company safety policies.
  • Wear required PPE where mandated.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to work extended shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Exposure to noise, CO2, moving production, heat, cold, wet/dusty environments, and odors.
  • Ability to move about throughout the shift.
