POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for providing hands-on supervision of day-to-day cross-dock and warehousing operations. This position works directly alongside Team Leaders and team members to ensure safe, efficient, and productive operations. A primary focus of the role is training, coaching, and developing team members while reinforcing company standards, operational processes, customer requirements, and performance expectations through daily floor presence and the use of KPIs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide hands-on supervision of the day-to-day cross-dock operation and maintain a strong presence on the dock
• Personally train, coach, and reinforce all safety procedures, operational processes, and customer requirements with team members
• Support communication between the cross-dock operation, leadership, and customers
• Actively develop Team Leaders and team members through hands-on coaching, cross-training, feedback, and daily follow-up
• Support and lead continuous improvement and Kaizen activities with direct team involvement
• Ensure adherence to all company standards and processes through daily observation, coaching, and accountability
• Maintain a safe, secure, and productive work environment by actively engaging with team members on the floor
• Identify operational improvements and work directly with the team to implement solutions
• Maintain accurate performance metrics and use results to coach the team and improve performance
• Work Monday - Friday

EDUCATION:

Relevant degree or 3-5 years of industry experience. College degree in business administration, commerce, management, industrial technology, or industrial engineering is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Must have prior supervisory or leadership experience in high volume material handling, preferably in the automotive industry. Three (3) plus years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred. Prior Warehouse Management System (WMS) experience is required, including the ability to navigate the system, extract operational data, and use data to monitor performance, identify trends, and support daily decision-making. Must demonstrate the ability and willingness to work hands-on within the operation and safely understand material handling equipment. Strong experience training, coaching, and developing team members is required. Must possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to apply practical solutions to improve processes. Knowledge of shipping and receiving operations required. Proven ability to build relationships, hold team members accountable, and lead by example required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is a hands-on supervisory role responsible for directing daily work activities while remaining actively involved with Team Leaders and team members on the dock. The Supervisor is expected to lead by example, build strong working relationships, and spend significant time coaching and supporting the team in the operation. Must effectively train team members on all safety procedures, operational processes, and customer requirements, while identifying development needs and providing ongoing coaching and cross-training. Responsible for verifying that team members are properly trained, competent, engaged, and consistently following established standards. The Supervisor will also support Team Leader development and help prepare high-performing team members for future growth opportunities.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Prior Warehouse Management System (WMS) experience is required. Must be able to navigate WMS platforms and extract, review, and interpret operational data to support KPI tracking, productivity, staffing, and continuous improvement efforts. Must have working knowledge of PC applications and the cognitive ability to learn customer software application(s). Proficiency in Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook email required, including the ability to work with and analyze data in Excel. Must have the ability to learn new programs as necessary.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Solid work history and willingness to successfully function in a team environment. Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple ever-changing priorities at one time. Ability to accurately understand written and verbal instructions and effectively relay that information to team members. The ability to lift up to 75lbs required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is within our cross-dock facility; thus you will need to follow all correct and proper PPE requirements set for entering the dock and yard areas. Such as but not limited to, wearing a reflective vest, shirt, or jacket, and steel toe shoes or shoe coverings. Dress appropriately for weather as the indoor facility is not climate controlled.
