Job summary
GFL Environmental Inc. in Chesapeake, Virginia seeks a 2nd shift diesel mechanic to safely operate, diagnose, repair and maintain heavy duty diesel trucks and refuse equipment.
Starting pay is $28–$55/hr with a $2 shift differential, overtime after 40 hours, and opportunities for ASE testing credit and state inspector boosts.
Benefits include 15 days PTO, monthly tool allowance, boot reimbursement, health benefits after 60 days, and 401K after 6 months.
Qualifications
- Perform daily inspections and diagnostic work on diesel refuse trucks.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance to keep fleet ready for daily operation.
- Ongoing diagnostics and repairs to ensure safe, reliable operation.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily inspections, diagnose issues, troubleshoot problems, and complete repairs on Diesel Refuse Trucks.
- Repair and troubleshoot hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, PTO systems, and other truck components.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues to keep Refuse Trucks operating safely and reliably.
- Perform preventative maintenance and complete repairs to ensure fleet vehicles are ready for daily operation.
