Waste Connections is hiring a 2nd Shift Diesel Mechanic to join our team in McGregor, Texas!

Start time: 3 pm.

Responsibilities:

• Perform repairs including routine maintenance, engine, chassis, body components, hydraulic cylinders, brake systems, suspension, cooling systems, wheels, and tires.
• Inspect equipment and trucks for condition, operations, parts, fluid levels, differentials, drives, and hubs.
• Knowledge of hydraulics repair is required.
• Use vehicle computer systems to interpret failure modes and initiate or assign repairs.
• Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
• Complete paperwork using fleet maintenance software to document repairs, parts usage, and repair times.
• Review and complete repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
• Perform maintenance work as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area following OSHA standards.
• Follow safety protocols when working on vehicles.
• Communicate repair needs effectively.
• Physical activity is extensive; includes heavy lifting (>50 pounds), pushing, or pulling objects.
• Work environment varies between indoors in a shop and outdoors on the road, often in awkward positions or greasy conditions, requiring safety precautions.

Ideal Candidate:

• Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Must provide own tools; welding/fabrication skills are a plus.
• ASE Certifications preferred but not required.
