Job summary:

To inspire and prepare each scholar with confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in lifelong learning by performing maintenance and care tasks for district facilities, equipment, and grounds, filling in at buildings as assigned.

Responsibilities and Tasks Include:

• Assuming full responsibility daily for the position being filled.
• Communicating work directives from the Coordinator and/or Assistant Coordinator, Facilities Operations, and building principal to custodial staff.
• Performing housekeeping tasks such as dust mopping, wet mopping, cleaning restrooms, stripping and sealing floors, washing windows, walls, lockers, vacuuming carpets, following district standards.
• Carpentry, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing repairs as needed.
• Supporting kitchen staff by cleaning floors, unloading groceries, and stocking supplies.
• Monitoring and adjusting building automation controls.
• Securing the facility by arming/disarming security systems and reporting vandalism or unauthorized access.
• Maintaining grounds: watering, mowing, pruning, weeding, debris removal.
• Snow removal and ice management.
• Managing all aspects of building operation for assigned areas.
• Reporting equipment issues to the Maintenance Services team.
• Maintaining reports and logs timely.
• Painting facilities, maintaining equipment, operating boilers, setting up and dismantling equipment, and providing customer service.
• Performing other similar duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must obtain MN Specialist boiler license within 1 year of hire.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Computer skills and email communication.
• Knowledge of building automation, cleaning techniques, safety precautions.
• Facility and equipment maintenance skills.
• Effective collaboration and communication skills.
• Customer service orientation and problem-solving skills.
• Record keeping and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• MN First Class C boiler license preferred.
• Experience in cleaning and maintaining commercial facilities.

Additional Information:

Salary details are available in the district’s custodial contract. The work schedule is 8 hours/day, 5 days/week, full-time, year-round. The position is part of the Custodial bargaining unit.
