Job Title: Crane Operator

Location: Indiana

Job Overview

The Crane Operator supports production and facility operations by handling materials such as documents, inventory, and equipment. The role involves pulling, moving, stocking, loading, kitting, cycle counting, and delivering items to designated workstations. The operator must be capable of supporting all areas within the facility.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Complete and maintain crane certification as approved by EHS supervisor/manager.
  2. Unload and store materials/parts using overhead cranes or heavy equipment.
  3. Transport materials, parts, and equipment related to locomotive assembly to and from various areas.
  4. Familiarize with different work areas to ensure prompt delivery and supply of required items.
  5. Communicate and document incoming and outgoing materials accurately.
  6. Operate industrial forklifts, pallet jacks, mobile equipment, and overhead cranes safely and effectively.
  7. Deliver urgent items to the production floor reliably and safely.
  8. Track incoming parts and relay information to management promptly and accurately.
  9. Follow work instructions, standards, and quality work instructions consistently.
Qualifications
  1. 2-5 years of experience, GED, or vocational/technical training, with at least 1000 hours of overhead crane operation experience.
  2. Knowledge of rigging and chokes for crane movements.
  3. Ability to train others on safe operation.
  4. Ability to inspect and report on equipment safety.
  5. Identify safety concerns and report promptly.
  6. Lead pre-work hazard assessments.
Preferred Skills
  1. Basic PC skills for data entry.
  2. Mathematical skills and ability to read tape measures.
  3. Self-motivated with minimal supervision.
  4. Experience with heavy equipment, forklifts, pallet jacks, and rigging.
  5. Problem-solving and reasoning skills.
