Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Production Supervisor for the Converting department on the 2nd shift in Glendale, AZ. Lead safety, quality and productivity while coaching a team of production staff.

You will drive performance on KPIs, manage schedules, and partner with cross-functional teams to meet daily targets and maintain peak equipment utilization. A strong Lean/Six Sigma background and people leadership are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or G.E.D. – Required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Engineering or Operations Management – Preferred.
• 3+ years of converting packaging supervisory experience – Required.
• Lean environment experience; Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification.
• Proven experience in operations, manufacturing, or supply chain.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Proven track record of effective problem-solving.
• Ability to embrace continuous improvement.
• Strong collaboration and teaming skills with stakeholders across functions.
• Coaching and training employees.
• On-shift resource for troubleshooting problems in the process as well as maintenance issues.
• Possess the ability to be a self-directed team player.
• Flexibility to work multiple shifts.

Responsibilities

• Manage manufacturing employees including performance reviews and disciplinary actions.
• Improve safety, environmental and health across the facility.
• Oversee day-to-day shift operations with focus on safety, quality, delivery and cost.
• Monitor production activities to meet schedules and reduce waste.
• Collaborate to improve efficiencies and reduce downtime and overtime.
• Control load factors and optimize use of capacity, labor, tools and equipment.
• Conduct safety briefs and monitor workplace safety.
• Ensure compliance with plant safety regulations and policies.
• Track KPIs and plant scorecard progress daily.
• Plan workforce schedules and attendance adherence.
• Coordinate with other areas to meet production needs.
• Foster positive employee relations and cross-functional collaboration.
• Oversee daily production activities and team performance.
• Engage in Daily Management Systems to drive performance.
