Job summary

Adient Foamech in Kentucky seeks a maintenance technician to troubleshoot equipment, including PLC ladder logic and data handling in Control Logix processors.

You will maintain PLC documentation, archive programs and drawings, and support I/O devices like HMIs, sensors, relays, and servo drives to ensure safe, reliable operation. The role includes backups, preventive maintenance, and contributions to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot equipment issues including PLC ladder logic and data handling in Control Logix processors
  • Maintain PLC documentation and archive PLC programs and machine controls drawings in electronic/paper formats
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and improve automated equipment and all related components to meet production and safety goals
  • Support I/O devices connected to PLCs including HMIs, scanners, remote I/O, sensors, relays, solenoids, servo drives; assist maintenance in pneumatic troubleshooting
  • Improve equipment uptime and plant reliability maintenance
  • Schedule and complete backups of all electronic machine control and robotic programs and develop PM programs
  • Diagnose hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical system issues interfacing with electrical systems
  • Apply electronics and instrumentation knowledge to diagnose malfunctions and restore operation
  • Implement and maintain data collection from plant floor processing equipment
  • Engineer and implement error-proofing systems throughout production
  • Be part of a multi-disciplinary Plant Team for continuous improvement strategies
  • Identify and plan process impacts from engineering and launch changes
  • Participate in 8D or root-cause problem solving to address abnormalities
  • Contribute to equipment purchase specifications and review drawings prior to build
  • Complete required training for Adient and its customers
  • Other duties as needed for department operation

Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support the maintenance department by assisting in the troubleshooting of equipment issues, which includes troubleshooting PLC ladder logic and data handling functions in Control Logix processors.
  • Maintain PLC documentation upon receipt from equipment suppliers and an archive of PLC programs and machine controls drawings in an electronic and/or paper format and throughout facility.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and improve automated equipment including devices, I/O, instruments and all other components associated with automated processes to meet production and safety goals.
  • Support various I/O devices connected to PLCs including HMI’s, scanners, remote I/O, sensors, relays, solenoids, servo drives, etc., and support/assist maintenance personnel in troubleshooting pneumatic circuits.
  • Improve equipment uptime and contribute to Plant reliability maintenance.
  • Schedule and complete backups of all electronic machine control and robotic programs on set schedule and develop and maintain Preventive Maintenance Programs.
  • Ability to diagnose problems with hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems interfacing with electrical and electronic systems.
  • Applies knowledge of electronic and instrumentation principles to determine equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation.
  • Implement and maintain data collection system from Plant floor processing equipment.
  • Ability to engineer and implement error-proofing systems throughout the production process.
  • Part of multi-disciplinary Plant Team to determine continuous improvement strategies.
  • Identify and plan for process impact(s) as a result of engineering and launch changes.
  • Participate in 8D or similar root-cause based problem solving tasks to ensure that abnormalities, when observed, are acted upon to resolve root-causes.
  • Contribute to specifications for equipment purchases, which include review and commentary on equipment controls drawings prior to build approval.
  • Complete all required and applicable training required by Adient and its customers.
