Job description

2 nd Shift CNC Mills Setup Technician : Rockford, IL

We are seeking an experienced CNC Mills Setup Technician to join our clients growing team on 2nd Shift. This hands-on role involves setting up, operating, and maintaining a range of CNC equipment, including Mazaks, Doosans, INDEX, and Nakamura machines. You’ll play a key part in maintaining product quality, optimizing machine performance, and helping to train new team members.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Set up and calibrate CNC machines using setup sheets.
  • Operate multiple machines, maintaining tight tolerances and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize machine operations to minimize downtime.
  • Inspect parts with precision tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure specification compliance.
  • Record production data and material usage in ERP systems.
  • Assist in training and mentoring new CNC team members.
  • Perform basic machine maintenance and work with maintenance teams on repairs.
  • Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Support different production cells as needed.

Skills & Experience :

  • Education : HSD / GED or significant relevant CNC work experience, required
  • Experience : 2-5 years operating both single- and multi-axis CNC machines (Mazaks, Doosans, INDEX, Nakamura), required
  • Knowledge Required : Proficient in using measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) and basic hand tools. Strong blueprint and part schematic reading skills.

Pay : $25.00 - $31.25 / hour + Quarterly bonus eligibility

Type : Full-time, 2nd Shift, On-site

Schedule : Monday – Friday 3 : 00 p.m. – 11 : 30 p.m. – FOLLOWING TRAINING

  • 30-90 days of training on 1st shift (6 : 30 a.m. – 3 : 00 p.m.) REQUIRED
