Job summary

Nidec Corporation in Minster, OH is seeking a skilled 2nd Shift Machinist to operate CNC and manual machines in a dynamic, high-mix production environment. The role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and teamwork to meet production goals.

Qualifications

3+ years of CNC machining experience in a job shop or high-mix environment.
Proficiency in setting up and operating CNC machines, preferably Haas, Okuma, PAMA, etc.
Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings.
Experience with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc...).
Solid understanding of machining processes, tooling, speeds, and feeds.
Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple jobs or setups.
Commitment to quality, accuracy, and safety.
High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school training preferred.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC machines (Haas, Okuma, PAMA, etc.).
Interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to ensure accurate production.
Select tooling, fixtures, and materials for each job.
Perform in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments.
Make program edits and offsets to maintain tight tolerances.
Troubleshoot machining issues and optimize setups for efficiency and quality.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow safety procedures.
Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and team members to meet production goals.
Assist with preventative maintenance and basic machine upkeep.
